    Description

Set of 4 Silver Hand Chased Floral Salt Cellars 1850s
Presented is a set of 4 hand chased silver salt cellars with lovely beading and floral patterns. The salts are marked on the underside with pseudo-English hallmarks, and the salts were likely made in either Continental Europe or China between the 1840s to 1860s. The silver purity is at least 900 purity. They can be used for salt or, since they are a little larger than shot glasses, as interesting drinking vessels. The pseudo-hallmarks on these are very similar to Chinese export silver from the mid 1800s.
The salts are all marked on the underside with three pseudo-English hallmarks that resemble the leopard's head, the lion passant, and Gothic initials that look like a maker's mark. We have tested the salt cellars with nitric acid and guarantee the purity to be at least 900.
The condition is excellent. The hand chased decorations are in great shape, with little to no wear. The salts came to us with much corrosion to the insides, due to the salt, and we had them professionally cleaned. They are now very clean and ready for use.
The salts measure approximately 2 3/8 inches in diameter and 2 3/8 inches tall.
The salts weigh 187.1 grams or 6.60 ounces.
